Eva Crane’s awards and publications [1937 – 2006]
Eva Crane was trained and qualified as a scientist, and published many important works. During her years as Director of the Bee Research Association (and then the International BRA), she showed her ability to gather, sift, collate and make available information on bees, beekeeping, bee products and also the history of these subjects. The list below includes her books, the journals she created and her many contributions to other publications. Thus, in the mid decades of the twentieth century, when information was not available online, she helped bee science to advance. Access to her publications was especially important in a world where scientists in some countries were totally cut off by the politics of the time. Near the end of her life, she welcomed the arrival of the internet, and understood how it would enable the propagation of information.
Each input line of the publication list ends with the internal reference number and – when available – the DOI-number in square brackets. The internal reference number always starts with ‘ECT_20’ referring to the 20th catalogue of the Eva Crane Trust, and is then followed by the numbering that was used by Eva Crane herself. The DOI-number links to the online journal page, whereas the internal reference number links to a scanned copy of the publication, when available. Please click here to read the terms under which the latter can be used.
