Between 1949 and 2000 Eva Crane visited at least 60 countries. These are her personal photographs.
Eva had travelled the world to expand her own vast knowledge of bees, beekeeping and bee history. She visited bee laboratories and presented at international conferences, as well as meeting commercial honey farmers and subsistent honey hunters. She used various means of transport including dog-sled, dugout canoe and light aircraft. From touring the States in 1953 to visiting Spain in 1991, this is Eva Crane’s personal photographic collection as she toured the world in pursuit of knowledge. Learn more about these adventures as Eva recollects her experiences in Making a Beeline: my journeys in sixty countries 1949 - 2000.
This fascinating collection is incredibly rich in both historical and personal significance. The combination of documenting people, landscapes, and beekeeping practices provides a unique window into the past and the evolution of beekeeping over time. The ability to search through the images by keywords and country adds another layer of accessibility and utility, allowing users to explore specific aspects of interest.
It is a valuable resource for both beekeeping enthusiasts and those interested in social history and cultural heritage. It is also nostalgic for those who have connections to the people or places depicted.
