may have replaced earlier bee house; original orchard gone; built round tree trunk as central support; each side of bee house 5 ft wide, 6.5 ft high, with window and flight hole below; inside, skeps (later, wooden hives) were on stands; restored in 1976; in 2014: condition still good, and some (empty) hives and stands remain; hives have hinges wooden walls and ends with removable glass walls inside; Nutt hive also now stored in bee house
